Gone are the dark days for former PBA superstar Mac Cardona.
As of late, Cardona has been rather busy enjoying life, playing basketball with former PBA pros, and even becoming a rather popular figure with his vlogs.
On his YouTube channel, Mac Cardona Official, Captain Hook, who was present during the De La Salle Green Archers championship victory versus the UP Fighting Maroons, shared the love and appreciation he received from the La Sallian community.
“I feel loved pare. Dati diba parang feeling ko inabandon ako. 'Yung after nung issue issue sa akin, pero mali talaga iniisip ko, love talaga ako ng mga La Salle,” Cardona said in his vlog.
But before having this renewed sense of joy and optimism, Cardona had to overcome a lot of issues, including depression.
His PBA Motoclub teammates even admitted seeing a different kind of Cardona as of late—a more ‘glowing’ one.
The 41-year-old cager then revealed one of the reasons he has been able to overcome the issues he’s faced.
“Totoo, iniwasan ko uminom. Siguro 'yun pala 'yung nagti-trigger sa akin,” admitted Cardona. “Lahat naman tayo may depression pre, pero ano 'yung (reason) para mag-trigger yun.”
“Pag-uminom ka ng alak, siyempre magiging emotional ka, so mag-overthinking ka,” he elaborated.
Cardona even mentioned meeting again former PBA coach Bink Favis, the person who saved his life—literally.
Favis was the one who found Cardona in his home unconscious and helped bring him to the hospital after attempting to take his own life.
“Nagkwentuhan kami. Ininterview ko siya pre. Nag-thank you ako siyempre,” said Cardona.
After all the ups and downs in his life, Cardona seemingly has a tip for his viewers who wish to live a happy life.
“Attract the positive para 'yung blessing hindi mo ma-block. Huwag kang magpo-post kung anu-ano po-post mo,” said Cardona.
