The drama between Mikey Williams and the TNT Tropang Giga rages on.

Williams, who had been spotted working out in the US, has yet to arrive in the Philippines ahead of the upcoming PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

TNT Governor and PBA Chairman Ricky Vargas bared the news as he mentioned that several TNT players will likely miss the start of the new season due to injuries.

“'Yung mga key players namin wala eh. (Poy) Erram is still injured, si (RR) Pogoy is out [and] maybe will not be able to play the conference. Si Mikey nagbabakasyon pa. Si (Calvin) Oftana, well-deserved vacation and 'yung experience naman niya sa Asian Games ay maganda,” Vargas said during the PBA’s press conference on Tuesday.

When asked about why Williams was not included in the team roster for the new season, Vargas said they were left with no choice.

“Ayaw pa niyang umuwi, so what can we do? He's not currently in the line-up, so he's not back yet,” said Vargas. “The team has already been practicing and he's still not here, so 'yun ang difficulty.”

It seems like it will be another tumultuous start for Williams and TNT.

Nonetheless, Vargas is confident that other players will step up for the depleted Tropang Giga squad, who are also competing in the EASL.

“May kompiyansa with or without our star players. I think the team will step up, so lalaban ang Talk N Text,” said Vargas.

TNT will open its PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign on November 5 as they take on the Magnolia Hotshots at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
