Captain Hook is direct to the point.
Mac Cardona gets honest about professional hoopers playing in "ligang labas" or unsanctioned tournaments prohibited by their leagues and mother teams.
According to the one-time PBA finals MVP, playing in such tournaments has a negative impact.
"Sorry sa mga naglalaro sa ligang labas ah. Sorry ah. Kapag naglalaro ka sa ligang labas, minsan doon mo nakukuha mga bad habits mo," Cardona said in a PBA Motoclub vlog.
Captain Hook then asked his fellow PBA alumni, "May point ba ako doon?"
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel legend Jayjay Helterbrand agreed.
"May point ka bro," said the six-time PBA champion.
Helterbrand then heaped praise to Cardona.
"Parang si Gilbert Arenas 'to (Cardona) 'no? Galing."
The ligang labas topic was raised when the PBA Motoclub group talked about the snubbing of Jaymar Gimpayan in the recently concluded PBA Draft. Rico Maierhofer and Helterbrand were surprised that the "double-double machine" was not selected.
Cardona said Gimpayan's supposed time spent in ligang labas may have contributed to that.
"May factor din siguro 'yung mga laro-laro niya sa ligang labas."
The PBA has always been strict in punishing players who defy their anti-ligang labas rules. Just last May, commissioner Willie Marcial issued fines to more than 10 players.
