And he’s been on a tear for the Beermen so far.
San Miguel Beermen ace Terrence Romeo sat out a big chunk of the last PBA season. But with his health continuously improving, it looks like Romeo is ready to help lead the Beermen this time.
That’s what he has been doing so far in the absence of June Mar Fajardo, Chris Ross, and Marcio Lassiter in the PBA on Tour.
In the Beermen’s first three games in the preseason tourney, Romeo has been on a tear, averaging 20.7 points per game. Against the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, he poured 21 markers, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a couple of steals in a dominant 90-78 win on Sunday.
Take note: the spitfire guard is not yet at full strength.
“Siguro nasa 99% na ako,” he said in an article on the PBA website.
While recuperating from the injury, the former PBA scoring champion has made the extra effort to be in basketball shape.
“Talagang pinaghahandaan ko kung paano ako makakabalik sa game condition. Habang nagpapagaling, tina-try ko na hindi ako mawala sa condition para pag totally healed na ‘yung body ko, ready na ako,” he said.
His mettle will be tested anew when the Beermen tackle the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters on Wednesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Game time is set at 7:30 p.m.
