San Miguel Beermen coach Jorge Gallent couldn’t give a timetable for June Mar Fajardo’s return to action but he seemed optimistic about it.

After their 90-78 drubbing of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA on Tour on Sunday, Gallent told reporters that the six-time PBA MVP will be assessed mid-June.

Fajardo is still recuperating from the grade 3 medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear he suffered during the team’s EASL Champions Week opener against Japan B.League team Ryukyu Golden Kings early March.

“June Mar will get assessed on the 15th. We’ll find out about his injury then,” he said after the match at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.

Good new is, Abai has joined the team’s practice already, doing shoot arounds. On social media, the Beermen star posted updates about how he's been rehabbing from the injury.

“Definitely, June Mar is improving. He practiced with us twice and he’s looking good,” Gallent said of the 6-foot-10 behemoth, who didn’t join the team in Sunday’s game. “But I’m not saying he will play in the tour because we’ll see what happens on the 15th of June.”

If things go their way, who knows, Fajardo may be able to join Gilas Pilipinas’ training camp for the FIBA World Cup which begins on Wednesday.
