At some point in the near future, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel will see their stars in LA Tenorio and Japeth Aguilar riding off into the proverbial sunset.

But while that might be a few years from now, Ginebra is already securing its future with its three brightest stars in the team.

Coach Tim Cone told Noli Eala on Power & Play that Ginebra’s success in the coming years will depend on three key guys.

“I think Scottie [Thompson], Jamie [Malonzo], and Jeremiah [Gray] are the real keys to what's going to happen over the next few years for Ginebra,” said Cone. “If I'm a Ginebra fan, which I am obviously, I'm really happy and feeling secure about our future because of those two guys along with Scottie.”

Thompson, who is currently the PBA MVP and in the running for this year’s award as well, has been crucial in Ginebra’s championship runs over the past few years.

Malonzo and Gray, meanwhile, albeit new to the team, have made their mark in helping Ginebra win crucial games, including the PBA Commissioner’s Cup title this season.

“I think Miah has leaps and bounds to go to,” said Cone. “I think he has superstar written all over him and Jaime has already gotten to that level.”

It will come as no surprise if Cone and the rest of Ginebra decide to shift their game plan for next season to be focused on those three guys.
