C-Stan, a shoo-in for second BPC of career, while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson maintains edge over Justin Brownlee in battle for Best Import award.
There’s no doubt Christian Standhardinger is playing his basketball yet in a Barangay Ginebra San Miguel jersey in the ongoing PBA Governors’ Cup.
That’s why it’s no longer a surprise he maintains a sizeable lead in the Best Player of the Conference race with 44.2 SPs (statistical points) while helping Ginebra reach the finals against TNT Tropang Giga.
Through the semifinals, “The Bulldozer” normed 23.5 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 5.8 assists.
At second spot is Cjay Perez of San Miguel Beermen, who amassed 38.3 SPs thanks to averages of 20.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 1.7 steals. His team got the boot in the semifinals, though.
Rounding out the top five are Jamie Malonzo of Ginebra (34.7), RR Pogoy of TNT (34.7), and Scottie Thompson of Ginebra (34.3).
Meanwhile, TNT’s Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is still ahead of the Best Import race with 57.1 SPs after averaging 30.4 points, 12.4 boards, 6.5 assists, 2.2 steals, and 1.0 blocks at the end of the semifinals.
Ginebra resident import Justin Brownlee is at second with 52.5, while Meralco Bolts’ KJ McDaniels (49.2) and San Miguel's Cameron Clark (48.7) are in the third and fourth spots, respectively.
With Ginebra making it back to the finals, it seems C-Stan has the inside track on the BPC. The Best Import award, on the other hand, may very well be a toss-up between Brownlee and Hollis-Jefferson.
