President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. celebrated the outstanding performances of Filipino athletes from the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games by awarding each athlete a Php1 million cash prize along with a Presidential citation.
In a ceremony held at the President’s Hall in Malacañan Palace on September 12, 2024, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. recognized the remarkable achievements of Filipino athletes who competed in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
Joined by First Lady Louise Araneta Marcos and the First Family, the President awarded each of the six Paralympians a Php1 million cash incentive and a Presidential citation for their exceptional performances.
Among the honorees, Cendy Asusano distinguished herself by finishing fourth in the women’s javelin throw - F54 final, setting a personal best with a throw of 15.05 meters. Meanwhile, Agustina Bantiloc, the para archer, gave a commendable effort with a score of 143-127 in the 1/16 Elimination Round of the Women’s Individual Compound Open.

Taekwondo athlete Allain Ganapin faced a tight contest, narrowly losing 12-9 to Azerbaijan’s Abulfaz Abuzarli in the men’s K44 80-kg round of 16. Ernie Gawilan, a veteran Paralympian, concluded his campaign by placing sixth in the men’s 400m freestyle - S7 swimming event. Finally, Angel Otom earned a fifth-place finish in the women’s 50m butterfly - S5 final.
