Carlos Yulo is basking in the afterglow of his historic glory at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 after bagging two gold medals in the floor exercise and vault.

Returning home to the Philippines, Yulo and his fellow Filipino Olympians were given a heroes’ welcome parade, greeted by a flock of supporters around Manila.

Yulo contrasted his experience in Tokyo 2020, which was heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This time, the atmosphere was electric and filled with a sense of celebration, comparing it to that of boxer Manny Pacquiao's victories.

“Nung sa Tokyo Olympics, well COVID nun [so] wala pong ganung experience. Sobrang parang 'Manny Pacquiao experience' 'yung na-experience ko this time kaya sobrang grateful and blessed talaga,” Yulo said during a Cignal TV press conference.

Since arriving in the country, the Philippines’ Golden Boy has received several awards and incentives from the government and private sector.

Despite not having time to rest just yet, the 24-year-old gymnast expressed his deep gratitude for the support he has received throughout his journey.

“Siyempre po minsan lang din mag-Olympics and hindi rin natin guaranteed na palagi tayong makakapasok sa Olympics and minsan lang din maging atleta,” said Yulo.

“Binibigay ko din best ko to show 'yung gratefulness ko na binigay sakin ng Panginoon Diyos na i-appreciate 'yung mga bagay-bagay at pasalamatan 'yung mga taong nagdadasal at naniniwala sakin,” he added.

At just 24 years old, Yulo knows his golden run has just begun, ready to go at it again in the Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028.
