Poland recovered from a second set letdown and hammered out a 25-20, 24-26, 25-19, and 25-20 win over Slovenia in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 men’s volleyball quarterfinals on Monday, August 5 (Philippine time).

The world no. 1 squad thus arranged a semifinal clash against either Team USA or Brazil.

Poland hardly had any troubles except in the second frame, when Slovenia erased a 21-23 deficit and eventually claimed it in extended fashion, 26-24.

Poland regrouped in the succeeding frame, and there was no way the top team would blow another lead again from there.

Wilfredo Leon Venero showed the way for the Polish squad with 20 points, including five aces.

Bartosz Kurek fired 19 points, while Jakub Kochanowski added 10.

Meanwhile, Klemen Cebulj paced Slovenia with 16 points and Tine Urnaut had 13 on two service aces and a block.
