Kai remains mum on his next move.
All eyes are on Kyrie Irving as he makes his next move in NBA free agency. He is, after all, wrapping up the final year of his contract.
It’s safe to say that the Dallas Mavericks experiment went off to a rough start, but who knows? Kyrie, acquired by the Mavs during midseason, may still give his partnership with Luka Doncic one more shot—with a training camp and full season this time around.
But, the Duke University alum has a wealth of options. For a talent like him, re-tooling contenders like the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns should be willing to listen and negotiate.
The free agency period, however, is not yet here. The NBA season is still ongoing and Irving is in no rush to make a decision.
In fact, the 6-foot-2 point guard is sick of hearing people asking him about his next destination.
“Stop mentioning me on Twitter. All y’all fan bases. It is still the Conference Finals. Can you please leave me the f**k out of this?” Irving said via Instagram live on Tuesday.
It seems that fans have been really pushy as Irving says these encounters are not just limited online. The 2016 NBA champ said some fans even approach him to ask about his impending decision.
“Y’all got people at my dinner table discussing what my free agency plans are,” he said.
The former Rookie of the Year did admit that he’s also excited about his next chapter, but insists it's not yet the time to talk about it.
“I’m just excited as y’all are, but you gotta chill.”
Whether Kyrie likes it or not, fans will continue to speculate about his free agency. His choice may have a significant influence on the overall NBA landscape, particularly if he decides to team up with one or more superstar players.
