Former NBA champion, fan favorite, and king of flair Jason Williams is returning to the Philippines this March to headline NBA 3X Philippines 2023, where more than 160 teams will battle it out for 3-on-3 supremacy.

Williams, a point guard known for his smooth dribbles and fancy passing, is bringing his 12-year NBA experience to spice up the tournament, which is returning to the country for the first time since 2019.

“I’m excited to visit the Philippines and experience firsthand the passion that Filipinos have for basketball,” the former All-Rookie first teamer said. “Through NBA 3X, I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experiences with the participants as they compete for the tournament’s top honors.”

This is not the first time Williams came to the Philippines. He once visited back in 2012 alongside other former NBA stars Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman, and Horace Grant for an exhibition game.

And now the 7th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft returns to share more of his hoops savvy in the world of 3-on-3, specifically NBA 3X.

The tournament, taking place on March 25 and 26 at the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, will have a boys’ and girl’s division. Each division is further subdivided into under-19 and open categories. As a treat to the fans, there will also be a celebrity division featuring local sports personalities. Registration will be announced on the official NBA Philippine Facebook page.

Aspirants must take note that prior to the actual tournament, there will be preliminaries at the PICC Forum Tent on March 19. The top teams in this tilt will advance to the actual tournament in Mall of Asia.

Aside from the hoops battles, fans can expect to take part in interactive activities and see authentic NBA entertainment, including performances from the Clutch City Dancers of NBA franchise Houston Rockets.

NBA 3X Philippines 2023, presented by Mountain Dew, is building on the promising brand of 3-on-3 basketball that has seen global growth in recent years.

“We look forward to building on this platform as we deliver more exciting hardcourt experiences to our fans this season,” said Dominique Layugan, Carbonated Soft Drink Brand Manager of PepsiCo Philippines.
