Tallulah Proulx of the Philippines completes her first Olympic event, finishing the women's giant slalom in 52nd place. Italy's Federica Brignone makes a golden double after winning the Super-G event days before. Meanwhile, alpine skiing record holder Mikaela Shiffrin failed to reach the podium on Sunday, February 15.

Proulx, the youngest Philippine Winter Olympian at 17 and is the only female athlete so far, started in 74th place.

She finished Run 1 at the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre with a time of 1:24.47, jumping to 52nd place.

She finished Run 2 with a time of 2:41.62 to remain in 52nd place. Only 54 out of 76 completed the race.

Italy's Brignone, the silver medalist in Beijing 2022, topped the women's giant slalom with a total time of 2:13.50.

The 35-year-old, who only returned to the Alpine ski World Cup in January after a career-threatening leg injury, won by 0.62 of a second.

She also won the Super-G event a couple of days before.

Shiffrin, seventh after the first run of a discipline she has found challenging since a nasty crash in 2024, missed out on an Olympic medal again after finishing 11th on a course set by her coach.

The most successful skier in World Cup history, with a record 108 wins, has not won an Olympic medal since 2018 after drawing a blank in Beijing and now has just the slalom remaining to end that drought.

Proulx will return to competition on February 18 for the slalom.

Her compatriot, Francis Ceccarelli will compete first on February 16, Monday, for the men's slalom.

Run 1 will also start 5:00 pm, Philippine time.
