Alex Eala is back for another WTA 1000 tournament, taking center court against Hailey Baptiste to open the Dubai Tennis Championships.
Alex Eala is set for action in the Dubai Tennis Championships, with the opening round slated for Sunday, Feb. 15.
Eala squares off with American Hailey Baptiste in the Round of 64 as the Filipina takes the court for her second WTA 1000 of the year.
The Eala-Baptiste match is scheduled for 11:00 p.m. (PH time).
Eala was selected for a main draw slot for Dubai, foregoing the qualifiers where she was initially listed.
Currently the WTA world no. 40, Eala is coming off a first-round exit at the Qatar Open earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Baptiste is world no. 39, moving up 17 spots in the recent round of rankings.
Baptiste was the top-ranked qualifier and won her first two matches in straight sets to get to the main draw.
Eala holds a 1-0 record against Baptiste after their initial meeting in last year’s Eastbourne Open qualifiers.
