After seven seasons with the Bulls, Coby White has been dealt to the Charlotte Hornets, where he will join LaMelo Ball and standout rookie Kon Knueppel.
Amid a franchise-best winning streak, the Charlotte Hornets are adding firepower ahead of the trade deadline.
The Hornets have agreed to acquire Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. from the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Collin Sexton, forward Ousmane Dieng, and three future second-round picks.
Dieng, currently with the Thunder, is expected to join Charlotte in a separate transaction that will send veteran center Mason Plumlee to Chicago to complete the deal.
The trade was first reported by league insider Shams Charania.
White was drafted seventh overall by the Bulls in 2019 and has emerged as the team’s top scorer this season, averaging 18.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 4.7 assists.
Now with the Hornets, the 25-year-old is expected to complement Charlotte’s young core, including LaMelo Ball and rookie standout Kon Knueppel.
Conley, meanwhile, was moved for the second time in as many days, having been part of a three-team trade that sent him from the Minnesota Timberwolves to Chicago just before he heads to Charlotte.
The 38-year-old veteran is expected to provide leadership and stability for the Hornets’ youthful backcourt.
Charlotte enters the stretch run with a 23-28 record, sharing the longest active winning streak in the league with the New York Knicks.
The Hornets remain in contention for a Play-In Tournament berth, currently trailing the Bulls by just one game for the 10th spot in the Eastern Conference.
In return, Chicago will bring in Sexton, who was Charlotte’s top bench scorer last season.
The eighth overall pick in the 2018 Draft, the 27-year-old is averaging 14.2 points and 3.7 assists in 42 games this season.
