The Cignal Super Spikers filed a leave of absence from the 2026 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference, marking the end of an era.
The Cignal Super Spikers have filed a leave of absence ahead of the 2026 Spikers' Turf Open Conference, the team announced on Friday, January 30.
In a statement, the Super Spikers cited internal planning and strategic reassessment as key reasons behind the move.
"The Cignal Super Spikers - Men's Volleyball Team has formally filed a Leave of Absence for the upcoming Spikers' Turf Open Conference,” the statement read.
“This difficult decision was made after a careful review by management of Cignal’s current and future plans. The Cignal Super Spikers organization is deeply grateful to its coaches, players, and staff.”
Founded in 2014 as the Cignal HD Spikers, the team quickly established itself as a dominant force in Philippine men's volleyball, beginning its journey in the Philippine Super Liga.
Cignal finished as runners-up in their debut season and captured their first title in the 2014 PSL Grand Prix.
The team later joined the Spikers' Turf in 2015 and became one of the league's most successful franchises.
Over the years, the Super Spikers amassed a record seven Spikers' Turf championships, including back-to-back titles in the 2024 Invitational and 2025 Open Conferences.
Beyond Spikers' Turf, Cignal also achieved success in other national tournaments. They captured two PVL men’s titles and two PNVF Champions League crowns, bringing their total major title count to twelve championships.
Throughout the years, the Super Spikers have been the foundation for Alas Pilipinas Men, with players such as Bryan Bagunas, Owa Retamar, Steven Rotter, Vince Lorenzo, and JP Bugaoan, among others.
“To #AwesomeNation - thank you for your enthusiastic support in every game that the Cignal Super Spikers played,” the statement ended.
