The New England Patriots will battle the Seattle Seahawks at the on Feb. 8 at the Levi’s Stadium, following both teams’ victories in the Conference Championship games on Monday (PH time).
New England was the first to advance, going on the road to stop the Denver Broncos, 10-7.
Even without starting quarterback Bo Nix, who suffered a broken ankle in the divisional round last week, the Broncos managed to strike first before New England racked up 10 straight to win a gritty game.
Drake Maye only went 10/21 for 86 yards in the snow, but he rushed for 65 yards and scored the Patriots’ lone touchdown.
This will be New England’s first trip to the Super Bowl since 2018 when the Patriots beat the Los Angeles Rams to win a 6th title.
Likewise, this is New England’s first Super Bowl without Tom Brady as quarterback since 1996.
SEAHAWKS SET REMATCH
Meanwhile, the Seattle Seahawks are coming out of the NFC with an electric 31-27 victory over the Rams at home.
In a back-and-forth contest, the Seahawks regained the lead late in the first half with a Sam Darnold touchdown pass to Jackson Smith-Njigba, 17-13.
The Seahawks then made it a two-score game with a punt recovery early in the third, which they cashed in for another touchdown pass from Darnold.
However, the Rams would not back down and both teams traded touchdowns before entering the fourth quarter with Seattle up, 31-27.
Then came the key Rams drive, as Los Angeles marched down the field for 84 yards in over seven minutes but came away with no points.
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford converted on a huge 4th down, but Seattle held strong in the red zone and the Seahawks got a huge 4th down stop to take over at their own six-yard line.
While Seattle gave the ball back with 25 seconds left, the Rams only had three more plays before the Seahawks sealed a fourth trip to the Super Bowl in their franchise history.
Darnold went 25/36 for 346 yards and three touchdowns, with one Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, and Jake Bobo all getting to the endzone.
Kenneth Walker III rushed one in for Seattle’s fourth touchdown of the game.
The Seahawks are in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2015, or when they lost a heartbreaker to the Patriots, 28-24.
