While Kevin Durant moved past Jason Terry for 11th on the all-time three-pointers list, his 32 points also helped the Houston Rockets end Pistons’ four-game winning streak.
As the Houston Rockets found their rhythm again, Kevin Durant was busy etching his name deeper into NBA history.
Durant poured in 32 points and surpassed Jason Terry for 11th place on the all-time three-pointers list, guiding Houston to a 111-104 victory over the Pistons and ending Detroit’s four-game winning streak on Saturday, January 24 (PH time).
The 37-year-old sharpshooter knocked down five triples, bringing his career total to 2,286 — just five away from passing Vince Carter (2,290) and breaking into the top 10.
Supporting Durant’s effort, Alperen Sengun contributed 189points, Reed Sheppard added 18 off the bench, and Amen Thompson posted 15 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
Trailing 72-86, Isaiah Stewart’s three-point play capped an 11-1 Pistons run to bring the deficit to 83-87 with just over 10 minutes remaining.
But the Rockets answered with authority, striding out on an 18-6 spurt to seize a 103-95 lead and never looked back, earning a crucial bounce-back win that improved their record to 27-16.
For the Pistons, Jalen Duren topscored with 18 points as Isaiah Stewart added 16, and Cade Cunningham finished with 12 points and eights assists but was hindered by six turnovers.
Detroit dropped to 32-11, still atop the Eastern Conference standings.
The Rockets return home to face the Memphis Grizzlies (18-24), while the Pistons look to bounce back against the Sacramento Kings (12-33).
