With Kevin Durant and the Rockets in town, Joel Embiid anchored a sensational outing to lead the Philadelphia 76ers to a hard-fought overtime triumph.
Joel Embiid once again showed why he’s one of the NBA’s most dominant forces.
The former league MVP finished with 32 points, 15 rebounds, and 10 assists to spearhead the Philadelphia 76ers' 128-122 overtime dub that snapped the Houston Rockets’ three-game winning run on Friday, January 23 (PH time).
The milestone marked Embiid’s ninth career triple-double and his third-straight game eclipsing the 30-point mark in another dominant showing.
Tyrese Maxey played a key role in keeping Philadelphia alive, hitting the game-tying basket to force overtime, where the 76ers outscored Houston 13-7 to secure the win.
Maxey finished with a 32-point, 10-assist double-double, while Kelly Oubre Jr. added 26 points to support the 76ers’ 24-19 advantage in the overtime period.
For Houston, Kevin Durant led the charge with 36 points, and Amen Thompson contributed 17 points, but it wasn’t enough to extend the Rockets’ hot streak.
Philadelphia will now host the New York Knicks (26-18), while Houston travels to Detroit to face the East-leading Pistons (32-10).
