Jalen Brunson led the New York Knicks in a historic 54-point demolition of the Brooklyn Nets, marking the franchise’s biggest regular-season win ever.
The last time the Knicks played at Madison Square Garden, boos echoed through the arena after a humbling 114-97 loss to the Dallas Mavericks, with New York trailing by as many as 30 points.
This time, the home crowd had every reason to cheer.
Jalen Brunson poured 20 points before sitting out the fourth quarter of a dominant 120-66 Knicks rout of the Brooklyn Nets that snapped New York’s four-game slide on Thursday, January 22 (PH time).
With a 54-point blowout, the Knicks recorded their biggest regular-season win ever, surpassing the 130-82 drubbing of the 76ers back in April 1994.
Since hoisting the NBA Cup last December, the Knicks had struggled, dropping 11 of 18 games.
But a blistering 38-20 first-quarter start set the tone, allowing New York to cruise to their 13th straight win against Brooklyn and improve to 26-18 overall.
Meanwhile, Michael Porter Jr. struggled to find rhythm, tying a season-low 12 points as the Nets dropped their third consecutive game, falling to 12-30.
The Knicks chase back-to-back wins on the road against the Philadelphia 76ers (23-19), while the Nets aim to halt their skid at home against the Boston Celtics (26-16).
