Anthony Edwards hit a major scoring milestone as the Minnesota Timberwolves took care of business at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers to stay on a roll.
Anthony Edwards continues to score at a historic pace as the Minnesota Timberwolves show no signs of slowing down.
Edwards poured in 25 points to surpass the 10,000 career-point mark, leading the Timberwolves to a 131-122 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers for their fourth straight win on Friday, January 9 (PH time).
The three-time All-Star reached the milestone midway through the fourth quarter after knocking down a smooth fallaway jumper.
With the feat, Edwards became just the seventh player in NBA history—joining LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Luka Doncic, Tracy McGrady, and Carmelo Anthony—to eclipse 10,000 career points before turning 25.
Minnesota appeared to have the game in hand after building a 120-107 cushion in the final period, but Cleveland mounted a late charge and trimmed the deficit to 126-122 with under a minute remaining following a 15-8 spurt.
The Timberwolves, though, showed their composure down the stretch and scored the game’s final five points to climb to 25-13 and pull within 1.5 games of the Spurs (25-11) for second in the West.
Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with his third consecutive 30-point outing, but the Cavaliers’ road struggles persisted.
Despite four other players scoring in double figures, the Cavaliers could not overcome the more resilient Timberwolves squad as they slipped to 21-18.
The two teams are set to face off again in Minnesota on Sunday, January 11 (PH time).
