VJ Edgecombe didn’t wait for the new year to make his mark, delivering clutch fireworks for Philadelphia.

Edgecombe sank the game-winning triple with 1.7 seconds left in overtime, lifting the 76ers to a pulsating 139–136 victory over Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, Dec. 31 (PH time) to snap a three-game skid.

Tied at 136, the third overall pick of this year’s NBA Draft drilled a cold-blooded trey to cap a 25-point, six-rebound, and four-assist night, sealing the dramatic finish.

Memphis had a final chance to tie, but Cedric Coward’s three-pointer rimmed out as the Grizzlies squandered a seven-point lead in the final 90 seconds of regulation.

Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey each poured in 34 points, while Paul George added 17 to push Philadelphia to 17–14 on the season.

Morant, meanwhile, scorched the floor with 24 of his game-high 40 points coming in the fourth quarter and overtime, but his heroics weren’t enough to carry Memphis past the Sixers.

Coward posted a career night with 28 points and 16 rebounds, yet the Grizzlies fell in back-to-back contests, slipping to 15–18.

Philadelphia continues its road swing in Dallas against the struggling Mavericks (12–22), while Memphis travels to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers (20–10).
