Alex Eala will wrap up her historic 2025 season with a singles match against world No. 9 Mirra Andreeva at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters.
Alex Eala will close out her 2025 campaign with another strong measuring stick as she faces world No. 9 Mirra Andreeva at the MGM Macau Tennis Masters on Sunday, December 28, at the Macao Forum.
The match marks Eala’s final singles appearance of the year and continues a season that has steadily placed her against higher-ranked opposition.
Andreeva becomes the fourth top-10 player Eala has faced in 2025, following wins over No. 2 Iga Swiatek and No. 7 Madison Keys, and a loss to No. 6 Jessica Pegula during her run at the Miami Open.

The Eala–Andreeva matchup is part of the team competition at the Macau Masters, which features squads captained by former Grand Slam champions Li Na and Conchita Martinez.
Eala is part of Team Li Na alongside Ugo Humbert and Jerry Shang, while Andreeva plays for Team Martinez with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Wu Yibing.
This will not be the first meeting between Eala and Andreeva as the two faced off in the quarterfinals of the US Open girls’ tournament in 2022, when Eala captured the junior Grand Slam title.
Since then, both players have continued to progress at the professional level. Eala reached a career-high ranking of No. 50 this year, earned her first Grand Slam main-draw win at the US Open, and added a SEA Games gold medal in women’s singles—the Philippines’ first in the event in 26 years.

Andreeva, meanwhile, won WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells and advanced to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
Eala will also see action in mixed doubles on Saturday, December 27, pairing with Shang against Andreeva and Wu.
While the Macau Masters is an exhibition event, the match offers Eala another opportunity to test herself against top-tier competition ahead of her first Australian Open main-draw appearance in January.
