Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua scored a sixth-round knockout of Jake Paul, handing the former YouTube star the first KO loss of his career at the Kaseya Center on Saturday, December 20 (PH time).
Joshua controlled the bout with a measured approach early, opting to wait for openings rather than force exchanges.
While the slow pace drew some impatience from the crowd, the former heavyweight champion gradually increased his output as the fight progressed.
The breakthrough came in the fifth round, when Joshua dropped Paul twice as his pressure began to take its toll.

Paul was able to make it out of the round, but the momentum had clearly shifted.

Joshua closed the show in the sixth, landing a straight right that ended the contest. It marked only the second loss of Paul’s career and the first time he had been stopped.

Paul entered the fight with a 12–1 record, coming off a unanimous decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June. He had won six straight bouts since his split-decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023.

The matchup followed a planned exhibition bout between Paul and Gervonta Davis, which was canceled due to legal issues involving Davis.

For Joshua, the victory improved his record to 29–4 with 26 knockouts. He previously lost the WBO, IBF, and WBA titles to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021 and dropped their rematch the following year.

Joshua rebounded with four wins before suffering a stoppage loss to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
