Rondae Hollis-Jefferson suffered an apparent ankle injury during the Meralco Bolts' win over the Macau Black Bears in the EASL.
The good vibes are slowly rising for the Meralco Bolts in the EASL, with Justin Brownlee finally debuting for the team just as they racked up a third straight win on Saturday.
However, it wasn’t all sunshine during Meralco’s 93-91 win over the Macau Black Bears in Isabela as the Bolts lost Rondae Hollis-Jefferson due to injury.
RHJ got hurt in the third quarter with an apparent ankle injury after landing on the foot of Macau’s Sam Deguara.
At the time of his injury, Hollis-Jefferson was having quite the performance and ultimately made his exit with 15 points, four rebounds, seven assists, and one block.
“We cannot give an update. We’re just praying that it’s nothing too serious. We hope it’s just a sprained ankle and that he’s gonna recover successfully,” said coach Nenad Vucinic after the game.
“He’s in a lot of pain but we’re praying that he’s gonna be okay,” he added.
While the extent of RHJ’s injury is still in question, the three-time PBA champion will have some time to recover.
After playing a bulk of their EASL games in a month and a half, the Bolts don’t return to action until February 11 next year when they host the Ryukyu Golden Kings in their Group B finale.
As for RHJ’s PBA commitments with the TNT Tropang 5G, the Commissioner’s Cup is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
