Chris Paul’s second stint with the La Clippers has come to a stunning and abrupt halt.

Barely two months into the 2025–26 NBA season, the Clippers made a shocking move and parted ways with the legendary playmaker as the team wrestles with a rough start.

“We are parting ways with Chris [Paul], and he will no longer be with the team,” the organization said, as relayed by ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

“Chris is a legendary Clipper who has had a historic career. I want to make one thing very clear: no one is blaming Chris for our underperformance."

Clippers president Lawrence Frank continued, taking full accountability for the team’s disastrous start.

“I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”

LA, though, noted it would “work with Paul on the next step of his career,” but the veteran’s reaction was immediate and raw.

Moments later, Paul took to Instagram, posting simply: “Just found out I’m being sent home.”

The shocking development came amid LA’s turbulent 5-16—second worse in the West— nd on a five-game losing skid.

Paul signed a one-year, $3.6 million deal in the offseason, and had already announced that this season would mark the close of his storied career.

Across 16 games this season, he is averaging 2.9 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 14.3 minutes per game

But statistics tell only part of the story.

Over his 21-year career, Paul has averaged 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 9.2 assists in 1,370 regular-season games, cementing his status as one of the greatest point guards in league history.

Now, with his illustrious career in its final chapter, one question remains: where to next, CP3?
