It's back-to-back knockout victories for Islay Erika Bomogao after her successful appearance at ONE Friday Fights 134 in Thailand.
Filipina Muay Thai rising star Islay Erika Bomogao showed why the country's fighters have long been celebrated across the globe for their lightning-quick hands and devastating power.
At ONE Friday Fights 134, the Team Bagsik and Highland Boxing Gym affiliate extended her undefeated record by finishing Thailand's Ploychompoo PU Phabai in the second round in Bangkok, Thailand.
The 25-year-old Baguio City native dropped Ploychompoo twice in the bout, first with a clean straight right hand that landed flush on the chin in the opening round.
Bomogao finished the job in the second frame, overwhelming her opponent with a furious barrage of strikes before sealing the finish with a body shot and right-hand combination at the 0:47 mark.
"I'm feeling incredible. Honestly, I didn't expect to finish it that early, but I'm glad I did, and I'm really happy," Bomogao said in her post-fight interview.
The speed, accuracy, and sheer power behind the Filipina's punches proved too much for her Thai foe to handle.
After the victory, Bomogao paid homage to Philippine icon and eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao, citing the boxing legend as her inspiration.
"Yes, boxing is definitely something we've always been working for. And I think we Filipinos are really blessed with hands, right? Manny Pacquiao,” Bomogao said.
Bomogao improved to a perfect 5-0 for her professional record after her fourth straight win in ONE Championship.
This marks her second straight knockout win after her first-round destruction of Nerea Rubio last June.
