HOW IS FUTSAL DIFFERENT FROM FOOTBALL?
Futsal and traditional outdoor football are both ball sports played with the feet, but they differ significantly in rules, pitch size, equipment, and player numbers, resulting in a completely different tactical game.
-
Pitch: A futsal pitch is a small indoor hard court. Football features a large outdoor turf.
- Goals: In futsal, the goal area is small at 3x2 meters. In football, it's wide at 7.32x2.44 meters.
- Players: Futsal features five players per side, while football can field 11.
- Substitutions: There are unlimited "flying" substitutions in futsal, meaning subs can go anytime without stopping play. Football subs are limited and play must stop.
- Ball: Futsal has a smaller, heavier, low-bounce ball compared to football.
