LA Lakers star LeBron James has been added to the NBA G League South Bay Lakers roster, marking a significant step in his recovery from sciatica and toward his highly anticipated 23rd season.
Lakers superstar LeBron James is making crucial progress toward his highly-anticipated 23rd NBA season.
The four-time champion has been added to the NBA G League’s South Bay Lakers roster as he continues his recovery from sciatica.
It’s worth noting that LeBron’s son and teammate, Bronny James, spent last season moving between the South Bay Lakers and the LA roster during his rookie year.
While James is not expected to play for South Bay, reports indicate that James has been actively practicing with squad this week.
Head coach JJ Redick confirmed that the 40-year-old participated in warm-up transition drills and progressed to full five-on-five half-court play.
Senior NBA reporter Tim McMahon noted that James is not experiencing “lingering pain, soreness, or residual effect” from the sessions—a promising sign for Lakers fans eager to see the league’s all-time leading scorer back in action.
Having missed all of training camp and LA’s first 12 games, James’ absence has not derailed the purple-and-gold squad.
The Lakers are holding strong with an 8-4 record, largely thanks to co-stars Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, who have combined to average an impressive 63.2 points per game.
LA returns to play on Saturday, November 15 (PH time, against the reeling New Orleans Pelicans (2-9).
