LIST | Sports event advisories regarding tropical cyclone Fung-Wong (Uwan)

Mainland Luzon is on typhoon watch in the next few days with the effects of tropical cyclone Uwan (Fung-Wong)

Local meteorological agency DOST-PAGASA reported that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal #5 is already raised in several areas due to Super Typhoon Uwan. 

Furthermore, Uwan will traverse the mountainous terrain of Central and Northern Luzon and emerge over the West Philippine Sea by late Monday or early Tuesday, according to PAGASA.

What makes it even more dangerous, aside from the potential of becoming a super typhoon, is the sheer size of the area it covers.

And yes, this includes the possibility of heavy rainfall in Metro Manila come Sunday noon to Monday noon.

Given this situation, some organizations have released statements regarding their sports events over the weekend. Be sure to check this page, which will be updated with advisories as they come.

ACTIVE RINGS FUN RUN

• Date: November 8, Saturday
• Location: SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay
• Status: Event to push through

The Huawei Active Rings Fun Run is expected to push through, based on the update posted on November 7, 12:00 p.m.

HAPPENING ON THE GREEN FAMILY RUN

• Date: November 8 (Saturday)
• Location: Clark Parade Grounds, Pampanga
• Status: Proceed as scheduled

HOME TURF CHALLENGE LEG 4

• Date: November 8 (Saturday)
• Location: SM Southmall
• Status: Will push through IF no announcement of cancellation is made by 11 p.m.

TRILOGY RUN ASIA NATIONAL FINALS

• Date: November 9, Sunday
• Location: SM Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay
• Status: Cancelled 

• The race will not be rescheduled, as organizers said there are no available dates available until first quarter of 2026 (when a new Trilogy series will start).
• All registered runners will still be considered official Finishers and will receive their finisher entitlements.
• Organizers will schedule a collection or pickup date for those within Metro Manila. Kits will be delivered free of charge for those outside Metro Manila.

MILO MARATHON - ILAGAN LEG

• Date: November 9, Sunday
• Location: City of Ilagan, Isabela
• Status: Postponed

The local government of Ilagan and the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office have decided to postpone the event, noting that the province of Isabela may be likely among those first affected by the tropical cyclone.

A new schedule will be announced as soon as details are finalized.

PORAC SPARTAN APAC CHAMPIONSHIP

• Date: November 7-9
• Location: Porac, Pampanga
• Status: November 9 event to be moved two hours earlier

The November 7-8 events (opening ceremony, parade of nations, Ultra, Beast, Sprint events) will push through as planned.

Meanwhile, the November 9 races (Super, Kids, awarding) will be moved two hours earlier. Free deferrals will be available for Sunday races to use at future events (these are valid for one year).

FIT TO RUN LEG 3

• Date: November 9 (Sunday)
• Location: Clark Parade Grounds, Pampanga
• Status: Postponed

Organizers, in consultation with government agencies, decided to postpone the event due to tropical cyclone Uwan. The date of the new event will be announced when details are finalized.

However, race kit releasing will continue.

AQUA RUN

• Date: November 9 (Sunday)
• Location: Bacolod City Government Center
• Status: Stay tuned for further announcements

IRUNPH LEG 2

• Date: November 9 (Sunday)
• Location: UP Diliman Academic Oval
• Status: Event to push through

FAST TRACK 3

• Date: November 9 (Sunday)
• Location: Villar Avenue, Villar City, Cavite
• Status: Proceed as planned

Organizers announced the race will push through, rain or shine, UNLESS further announcements are made.

UAAP

• Date: November 8 to 10
• Status: Changed schedule, postponed

Athletics

• The UAAP said the athletics tournament aims to finish in the early evening of Sunday, November 9.
• In case of inclement weather on Sunday afternoon, events will be moved to Monday, November 10.

Swimming

• The UAAP said timed trials will be held on Sunday morning, with the tournament expected to end by 3:00 p.m.

Basketball, football, high school volleyball

• Postponed to a later date

PBA

• Date: November 9 (Sunday)
• Location: Ynares Center - Montalban
• Status: Postponed

The PBA has announced the postponement of the Sunday games: TNT Troang 5G vs Magnolia Hotshots and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel vs Titan Ultra Giant Risers for the safety of fans, players, officials, and staff.
