Calls for help continue to grow as Cebu and nearby provinces struggle with the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, which left homes destroyed, families displaced, and entire communities in urgent need of food and clean water.
Among the first to raise her voice was volleyball superstar Sisi Rondina, who issued an emotional appeal for food and water donations for her neighbors in Barangay Estaca, Compostela, Cebu.
Rondina, a native of Compostela, Cebu, took to social media on Wednesday night to share updates from her hometown, revealing that many families, especially those living near the shoreline, were forced to evacuate with nothing.
“My family is okay, but those who live by the shore — where we used to live — weren’t able to bring anything,” she shared. “Please help me raise funds for food and water. Let’s help each other, even in difficult times.”
“Hi guys, please help me raise funds for food and water for my neighbors in Barangay Estaca, especially those living near the shoreline,” Rondina wrote.
The Alas Pilipinas beach volleyball star added that communication has been difficult, making coordination even more urgent as communities wait for aid.
“They gave an update around 5 p.m. and said that what they really need are food and water. 'Di ko na sila ma-contact kasi nakisignal lang sila. Let’s help each other, even in difficult times.”
Others join the call
Nxled’s Krich Macaslang, a proud Cebuana herself, also shared a message of strength and solidarity.
“Mubangon ta tanan, Cebu,” she wrote, calling on fellow Cebuanos to rise together amid the aftermath of the typhoon.
Macaslang urged the public to extend help to affected areas as photos and videos of flooded homes, damaged roads, and stranded families continued to circulate online.
During a live donation drive, ONIC Philippines and their fanbase, the SONICS, raised P21,188 in a single night for the ongoing relief operations.
In their official announcement, ONIC emphasized how their community continues to show heart beyond the competitive scene.
“SONICS, your generosity shines once again. A total of P21,188 was raised during last night’s donation drive for those affected by Typhoon Tino. Your kindness continues to prove that the SONIC spirit goes beyond the game. It’s about showing care, compassion, and unity when it matters most.”
All proceeds are being turned over to the Angat Buhay Foundation, with a transparency report posted in their comments section.
Adding to the wave of support, former DLSU standout and Criss Cross star Noel Kampton announced he is auctioning the jersey he wore during the SEA V.League to raise funds for Cebu communities.
“Magpapa-bid ako ng jersey para sa mga kapatid natin sa Cebu,” Kampton shared. “Bid starts today until Nov. 12. I will sign the jersey also. Maraming salamat po — at babangon ang Cebu!”
Affected by the floods
Former PBA big man JR Quiñahan was among those severely affected. His home in Mandaue City was heavily damaged after floodwaters swept through their property.
In a video posted by his wife, the family was seen returning to a house covered in mud, with nearly all their belongings destroyed.
“Wala na tayong gamit. Zero na, back to zero na. Magmula sa appliances hanggang sa mga damit, wala na,” Quiñahan said in Cebuano.
His wife shared that although they lost almost everything, they remain grateful that they escaped the floods safely.
“Thankful that we were all able to get out just in time — complete, including our fur babies Paka and Choco. JR also managed to move all the vehicles in the nick of time, except our motorcycles — both already caught by the current. Still grateful despite it all.
Typhoon Tino made eight landfalls before exiting toward the Philippine Sea on Wednesday, November 5, leaving significant damage across Cebu, Negros, and nearby provinces.
Flooding, power outages, and communication disruptions continue to hinder relief efforts as local communities call for assistance.
Anyone willing to help is encouraged to support relief efforts through trusted donation channels and community-led initiatives.
