The Boston Celtics escaped with a hard-fought 109–108 victory over the previously unbeaten Philadelphia 76ers in an NBA Cup clash on Saturday (PH time) at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.

Boston, which improved to 3-3 on the season and 1-0 in NBA Cup play, led by as many as 24 points in what started as a wire-to-wire domination before Philadelphia mounted several furious rallies in the second half.

The Celtics, however, held firm in the closing seconds to secure their third straight win.

Jaylen Brown powered Boston with 32 points, while Anfernee Simons contributed 19 in the victory.

For the 76ers, Tyrese Maxey led the way with 26 points as Philadelphia absorbed its first loss of the season to drop to 4-1.
