David Alcaide captured the first-ever Philippines Open crown, cruising to a 13–3 victory over Arseni Sevastyanov in the final on Saturday, October 25, at Gateway Mall 2.

The event marked the country’s first Matchroom Major, showcasing world-class cue action on Philippine soil.

Alcaide was untouchable on the final day, following up his 11–4 semifinal win over Hong Kong’s Robbie Capito with another dominant display in the championship match.

His path to the title was equally impressive, featuring four straight victories over Filipino challengers — social media sensation Jaybee Sucal, Paul John Ladao, Michaeil Baoanan, and Jeffrey Ignacio.

The final day also featured a special exhibition match between living legends Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante.

Reyes was originally set to compete but had to withdraw earlier due to a minor health concern.

Bustamante still saw action in the main draw, advancing to Round 3 after defeating world no. 1 Fedor Gorst.

The Philippines Open delivered not just high-level competition but a celebration of the country’s deep billiards heritage — a fitting stage for legends and new champions alike.
