Team Asia moved one step closer to the 2025 Reyes Cup title after a dominant Day 3 performance, winning two of three matches to extend their lead to 9-1 against Team Rest of the World.
Team Asia moved within striking distance of clinching the 2025 Reyes Cup crown after an emphatic Day 3 performance on Saturday, October 18, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.
Match 1: Team Battle
Team Rest of the World finally got on the scoreboard with an exciting 5-4 victory.
It was a tight contest from start to finish as the visitors raced to a 2-0 lead, only for Team Asia to rally and level the match at 2-2.
Both squads traded racks until Moritz Neuhausen sealed the win for the Rest of the World at 5-4, preventing a sweep and giving his side a much-needed morale boost.
Match 2: Duong Quoc Hoang vs Skylar Woodward
Vietnam’s Duong Quoc Hoang continued to be one of Team Asia’s most reliable weapons, overwhelming Skyler Woodward in a commanding 5-1 victory in the second match of the day.
Hoang’s control and composure at the table proved too much for his American counterpart, who struggled to find his rhythm.
The win not only avenged the earlier team loss but also kept Team Asia firmly in control of the overall race.
Match 3: Aloysius Yapp & Carlo Biado vs Francisco Sanchez Ruiz & Moritz Neuhausen
The dynamic duo of Aloysius Yapp and Carlo Biado capped the night with a flawless performance, blanking Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and Moritz Neuhausen in the doubles showdown, 5-0.
With precise shot-making, clinical safety play, and strong finishing, Yapp and Biado never allowed the European tandem a chance to mount a comeback.
Two wins away
With the Day 3 results, Team Asia now hold a commanding 9-1 advantage and will need just two more victories to defend the Reyes Cup title.
On the other hand, Team Rest of the World will need a perfect Day 4 to steal the crown away.
