Alex Eala is out in the Round of 32 of the WTA 250 Kiinoshita Group Japan Open, losing to Tereza Valentova in straight sets.
It was simply not Alex Eala's day.
The Filipina tennis star suffered another early exit following a rough 1-6, 2-6 loss to Tereza Valentova in their Round of 32 duel at the WTA 250 Kinoshita Group Japan Open on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Coming off a first-round qualifying loss at the Voyah Wuhan Open in China last October 4, Eala’s campaign in Japan ended just as quickly in a one-sided encounter.
Eala struggled out of the gates, dropping her serve twice as Valentova raced to a quick 4-0 lead.
Though the Filipina fought back for a game, the Czech rising star claimed the final two games to take the opening set in just 39 minutes.
Valentova then gave Eala no opportunity to recover, dominating the second salvo on her way to a Round of 16 match against either Elise Mertens or Cristina Bucsa.
As for Eala, the 20-year-old shifts her focus to China as she is schedule to compete at the Guangzhou Open, another WTA 250 joust, set for October 20–26
