World no. 24 Portugal dug deep to complete a gritty 23-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21, 15-11 reverse sweep of also-ran Colombia, boosting their Round of 16 chances in the FIVB Men’s World Championship 2025, Wednesday, September 17 at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

After dropping the first two sets, the European squad stormed back to sweep the last three salvos and finish pool play with a 2-1 record.

For Portugal to advance to the knockout rounds, it now needs the Round of 16-bound Team USA (2-0) squad to beat Cuba in their 5:30 p.m. clash.

Meanwhile, Columbia ended their maiden stint in the World Championship losing all of their three games.
