Serbia powered past China in straight sets to stay in contention for a Round of 16 berth at the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship.
Serbia played with urgency and precision to keep its knockout round hopes alive, defeating China in straight sets, 25-18, 25-19, 29-27, in the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship on Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Led by opposite spiker Drazen Luburic, who delivered 17 points off 15 attacks, one block, and one service ace, the Serbians bounced back in a big way from their opening loss in Pool F.
Aleksandar Nedeljkovic and Pavle Peric added 11 and 10 markers, respectively.
With the victory, Serbia sets up a do-or-die showdown against world no. 3 Brazil for a ticket to the Round of 16.
On the other hand, China will look to finish strong after absorbing back-to-back defeats. The team takes on Czechia, also on Thursday, hoping to avoid a winless campaign.
Both Pool F games are scheduled for September 18, still at the MOA Arena.
