Ukraine bounced back from an opening loss with a commanding straight-set victory over Algeria, 25-17, 25-12, 25-11, in Pool F of the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship on Tuesday, September 16, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The world No. 16 squad quickly imposed its dominance, racing to a 12-1 lead in the third set before closing out the sweep.

The win gave Ukraine its first points of the tournament after falling to Belgium in its opener, while world No. 87 Algeria slipped to 0-2.

Ukraine, which finished ninth at the 2025 Volleyball Nations League and narrowly missed the final eight, displayed the form that made them a tough contender earlier this season.

With momentum regained, Ukraine now looks ahead to its remaining Pool F match against defending champion Italy on Thursday.
