Bulgaria and Germany’s opener in the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship was as explosive as it could get.

The first set between the two European giants reached a thrilling score of 40-38, with the world no. 16 Bulgarians taking the early lead.

Tied at 38-all, a crucial attack error by Tim Peter put the Bulgarians at another set point.

Aleksandar Nikolov would go on to seal the set victory for Bulgaria with a cross-court kill that the Germans could not handle.

Nikolov put 14 points on the board in the extended frame.

The second set is currently ongoing as of press time.
