LIVE UPDATES: Fan favorite Japan eyes big win in FIVB Men’s World Championship opener vs Turkiye

Crowd favorite Japan will be looking to ride the energy of the crowd as they open their campaign at the 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship at the Smart Araneta Coliseum against Turkiye in Pool G action on Saturday afternoon.

 

Japan, flanked by superstars Yuki Ishikawa and Ran Takahashi, battle a Turkiye team that is coming off of their best finish in Worlds last 2022 with an 11th place ranking.

 

After competing in the Volleyball Nations League, Turkiye will be leaning on star outside hitter Efe Mandiraci and Lagumdzija brothers Adis and Mirza to give themselves the perfect start in Manila.

With Japan’s experience colliding with Turkiye’s eagerness, fireworks are surely to go off at the Big Dome.
