Germany reminded everyone why they’re the reigning kings of world basketball.

Down by 13 early, Franz Wagner and Dennis Schröder put the team on their backs, sparking a comeback that carried Deutschland past Luka Doncic and Slovenia, 99-91, to book their ticket to the FIBA EuroBasket 2025 semifinals.

It marks the first time Germany has reached the EuroBasket semifinals in consecutive editions.

They will face Finland for a chance to advance to the championship game.

Andreas Obst’s 3-pointer capped a 12-0 run that put Germany ahead 77-74 early in the fourth quarter after trailing 34-21 in the second.

Slovenia briefly regained the lead 86-85 on a Doncic triple with 4:12 left, but Schröder answered with his lone 3-pointer after missing eight attempts to put Germany back on top 88-86.

Germany then went on to score 11 of the game’s final 17 points to keep their hopes of a second EuroBasket title alive.

“We are happy and I think we deserve it after this game. We missed some threes, but we are not worried. We did well and nearly scored 100 points, so we can be happy about where we are,” Obst said in the post-game press conference.

Despite the loss, Doncic erupted for 39 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists as Klemen Prepelic scored 13 markers and Gregor Hrovat added 11.

Since winning the title in 2017, Slovenia has failed to reach the semifinals in three straight EuroBasket tournam
