Turkey continues to ride its historic surge at the 2025 FIVB Women’s World Championships, set to take on Asian powerhouse Japan in the semifinals on September 6 at 4:30 p.m. (PH time).

Against their Japanese counterparts, the Turkish squad seek to reach the championship round for the first time ever.

Turkey clinched its maiden semifinals berth after stunning Team USA in the quarterfinals, 25-14, 22-25, 25-14, 25-23.

Outside hitter Ebrar Karakurt delivered her finest performance of the tournament with 23 points built on 20 kills and three blocks.

Opposite Melissa Vargas added 21 points, including three aces, while team captain Eda Erdem imposed her presence at the net with 13 points and a match-high seven blocks.

After topping Group E, Turkey maintained its sharp form by sweeping past Slovenia in the Round of 16 before rising to the occasion against the Americans.

History adds another layer of intrigue. The two sides last crossed paths in the 2025 VNL quarterfinals, where Japan prevailed in a five-set marathon.

With far more at stake this time, Turkey seeks to turn the tables and move one step closer to a golden breakthrough.
