Playing her second match of the day, Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala smashes her way to the Guadalajara Open semifinals after toppling her Italian foe.
Twice the grind, twice the glory for Alex Eala.
The Filipina tennis star kept her momentum and sent Italian foe Nicole Fossa Huergo packing, 7-6(2), 6-2 to punch her ticket to the semifinals of the Guadalajara 125 Open in Mexico on Friday, September 5 (PH time).
Coming off a rain-delayed Round of 16 battle against Varvara Lepchenko, Eala showed relentless spirit to inch closer to her first WTA Finals appearance since the Eastbourne open last June.

Down 1-4, Eala flipped the script by taking five of the next six games for a 6-5 advantage. Though Fossa Huergo forced a tiebreak, the Filipina lefty powered through to secure the first set in 57 minutes.
Locked at 2-all in the second set, Eala broke serve in the fifth game to grab control at 3-2.
From there, the 20-year-old Filipina never looked back, winning three straight games to close out the sweep.
Up next for the Eala is American American Kayla Day, who ousted third seed Emiliana Arango of Columbia, 7-5, 6-2 in their quarterfinal showdown.
