The race to the 2025 FIBA EuroBasket knockout stage is heating up, with several squads clinching spots in the Round of 16 while others kept their hopes alive.

Luka Doncic overcame a rough shooting night to power Slovenia past Iceland, 87-79, and into the next round.

The LA Lakers star finished with 26 points, seven rebounds, and four assists despite going just 8-of-22 from the field and missing eight of his 10 three-point attempts. Slovenia improved to 2-2 and will wrap up Group D play against Israel.

Speaking of the Israelis, Deni Avdija fired 22 points as the squad also booked their spot in the knockout round following a tight 92-89 escape against Belgium.

Roman Sorkin added 18 markers of his own for Israel, who led by as many as 21 points before foiling a late Belgian rally in the fourth quarter.

In Group C, Italy also punched its Round of 16 ticket after erasing a 13-point deficit to stun defending champion Spain, 67-63.

Mouhamet Diouf paced the Italians with 14 points and eight rebounds in just 19 minutes, while Saliou Niang tallied a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double.

Santi Aladama paced La Roja with his own double-double performance of 19 points and 10 as despite the loss, Spain still has a chance to advance to knockout round if with a win against Greece.

Reigning Olympic silver medalists France joined the party behind a monster 36-point outing from Guerschon Yabusele, who torched Poland in an 83-76 win.

With all three teams already through, France, Israel, and Poland now sit in a three-way tie at 3-1. The race for the Group D top seed will be settled on Friday, Sept. 5, the final day of group play.

Elsewhere, Bosnia and Herzegovina capitalized on the absence of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to stun Greece, 80-77, and handed the Greeks their first loss in the tournament.

Greece already qualified to the knockout stage as Antetokounmpo was rested because of some knee discomfort.

With him out, Jusuf Nurkic bullied his way into a 18-point, 10-rebound double-double on top of  three assists and three steals. John Roberson chipped in 18 markers, while Edin Atic collected 15 points and eight rebounds.

The win lifted Bosnia and Herzegovina to 2-2, reviving its Round of 16 hopes and setting up a must-win clash with Georgia in the final game of group play.

Finally, Tornike Shengelia and Goga Bitadze were unstoppable in Georgia’s 93-61 demolition of Cyprus to keep their chances of advancing onto the knockout rounds.

Shengelia dropped 27 points while Bitadze finished with a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double. Sandro Mamukelashvili chipped in 5 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists for the Georgians (2-2), who will face Bosnia and Herzegovina in their final game of the group.
