Actor-businessman David Licauco had no shortage of athletic excellence from his family, with two of his siblings seeing action in the UAAP.
David Licauco had more than enough people to go to for advice during his 3x3 basketball stint with Taho Story A at the Pilipinas United 3x3 League.
Licauco, who previously played for the College of St. Benilde during his college career, returned to competitive play even at least for a weekend, finding time amid his schedule as an actor and entrepreneur.
Speaking to media at the sidelines of the two-day tournament, Licauco said that athletic ability does run in the family — as evidenced by siblings James and Jean, who both played UAAP volleyball with Ateneo de Manila University.
Though never formally playing outside of his years in CSB, Licauco believes that his siblings did get their love for sport from him.
“To be honest, I feel like yung pagiging athletic ng mga kapatid ko, si Jean also played for Ateneo, di ba? Si James din played for Ateneo. Feeling ko nakuha nila sakin kasi ang hilig ko talaga mag-work out ever since, like twice a day, thrice a day,” Licauco said.

Still, Licauco admitted that he needed a little help from his younger siblings, especially as it was his first time to play 3x3 basketball. Going up against international competition, he said that he had to fix his mindset.
Despite going through some rough patches in the tournament, Licauco said that his siblings’ advice proved helpful.
“Actually si James I was able to ask him for advice. Ngayon naman ako naman yung nanghihingi ng advice kasi syempre siya yung mas nakaabot ng higher level when it comes to sports,” said Licauco.
“Tinanong ko lang siya, like what do you think of our game. Kasi I was getting anxious nga. He just said na, he visualizes so yun, that’s what I did nung second game [namin in the tournament], medyo I played well,” he added.
Now whether or not Licauco decides to pursue more sporting opportunities in the future, he can definitely lean on his siblings to help him ease into whatever role he decides to chase in sports.
