Johann Chua prevailed over Dutch veteran Neils Feijen in the quarterfinals of the US Open Pool Championship.
The toughest test yet awaits Filipino Johann Chua.
The 2021 Southeast Asian Games Gold medalist arranged a US Open Pool Championship semifinal clash against Fedor Gorst.
The Filipino cue artist bested Neils Feijen, 10-2 in the quarterfinals Saturday, August 23 (Manila time) in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The American-Russian Gorst is the defending champion of the 9-ball tournament and ranked no. 1 in the world.
The race-to-11 match between the Filipino dubbed as “Bad Koi” and Gorst is slated Sunday, August 24.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old Chua aims to be the first Filipino since Carlo Biado in 2021 to claim a US Open title.
This could have been an All-Fiipino duel in the Final Four, but Gorst took down Michael Baoanan, 10-9 in a come-from-behind fashion in the quarterfinals.
