Alex Eala will have a busy slate coming up as she is set to play in the US Open, and then see action in the WTA's return to Sao Paolo, Brazil after 25 years.
Philippine tennis superstar Alex Eala will be joining the action as the WTA returns to Sao Paulo, Brazil for the first time since 2000.
The SP Open will be a WTA 250 tournament, marking the first time that the tour will make a stop in Sao Paolo since the Brasil Open more than two decades ago.
Eala will be joining big names like world no. 21 Beatriz Haddad Maia and Hailey Baptiste, whom Alex actually beat in the qualifying tournament of the Eastbourne Open on her way to her first-ever WTA final.
The Filipina ace is expected to be seeded in the top-5 along with Mexico’s Renata Zarazua and Argentina’s Solana Sierra.
But before attempting to make waves in Brazil, Eala will have bigger fish to fry as she seeks a breakthrough Grand Slam victory at the US Open.
Her appearance at Flushing Meadows is Eala's third straight in the main draw of a Grand Slam after making her debut at Roland Garros earlier this year.
Currently world no. 68, the US Open will also be Eala's first tournament from a shoulder injury she endured in Montreal.
The setback caused her to miss the ongoing Cincinnati Open, hurting her ramp up to the season-ending Grand Slam.
