Alex Eala's fall by 13 spots is the biggest decline among the top 100 players in the latest WTA rankings.
Alex Eala dropped to no. 69 in the latest WTA rankings released on Tuesday (PH time), July 22.
After reaching a career-high no. 56 following a runner-up finish at the Lexus Eastbourne Open last month, Eala’s 13-spot drop marks the biggest fall among the top 100 players this week.

It has been nearly three weeks since the 20-year-old last took the court, where she made her much-anticipated Wimbledon main draw debut. In that first-round match, the Filipina pushed then-defending champion Barbora Krejcikova to the limit before eventually losing 6-3, 2-6, 1-6.

Since then, Eala has taken a well-earned break and even returned to her home country before setting her sights on her next big challenge: competing in the US Open main draw for the first time.

But before that, she will take part in the 2025 National Bank Open — her first WTA 1000 tournament since the Italian Open — from July 27 to August 8 (PH time) in Montreal.

The tournament will not be easy as fierce competition lies ahead. Defending champion Jessica Pegula—who defeated Eala in the Miami Open semifinals earlier this year—will be among the top contenders.
Two-time Grand Slam champion and second-ranked Coco Gauff, and the newly crowned Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek are also expected to contend for the title.
Following Montreal, Eala will head to the Cincinnati Open, the second of two WTA 1000 events during the summer’s hard-court season.
The main draw of the season-ending Grand Slam will begin on August 24, offering another opportunity for Eala to make her mark.
