The road to the FIFA Women's World Cup remains open for the Philippines.

The Filipinas booked a return trip to the AFC Women's Asian Cup after drubbing Hong Kong, 1-0, in Group G of the qualifiers on Saturday, July 5, at Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The Philippine Women's National Football Team (PWNFT) completed a perfect run in the AFC Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers, keeping a clean slate against Saudi Arabia, host Cambodia, as well as Hong Kong.

The party started early for the Filipinas, with Alexis Pino setting up Chandler McDaniel for the casual kick to the net at the fourth minute. This is her second goal of the tournament and 11th overall for the national team.

There were multiple chances for the Filipinas to deliver more goals, but Hong Kong's goalkeeper proved to be steady in defense.

Carleigh Frilles received a yellow card late in the match.

Still, the effort was enough to secure nine points, enough for the top spot and the direct berth to the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup in Australia.

Recall that it was in the 2022 edition of that tournament—when the Philippines eliminated Chinese Taipei in the quarterfinals via a nail-biting penalty shoot-out—that the Filipinas clinched their historic debut at the FIFA Women's World Cup.
