Patrick “Pato” Gregorio takes a new role as the Philippine Sports Commission chairman, replacing Dickie Bachmann.
Patrick “Pato” Gregorio is the new Philippine Sports Commission chairman.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin confirmed this appointment to reporters on Saturday, June 28, according to News5.
Gregorio will replace Dickie Bachmann at the helm of the agency handling the country’s sports program.
Before this new gig, Gregorio has been involved in sports, most notably in the PBA where he served as chairman of the board.
Gregorio was best remembered in the league for welcoming Asian imports that spiced up competition in 2015.
That move saw international basketball standouts like Sam Daghles, Michael Madanly, and Omar Krayem show their wares in Asia’s pioneering pro league.
However, the league stopped bringing Asian reinforcements after the 2016 season.
Prior to the appointment, Gregorio was serving as president of the Philippine Rowing Association.
Gregorio, also a co-chef de mission of the national team in Paris Olympics last year, takes over from Bachmann, who was appointed PSC chair on December 2022.
